What about research with children?
We regularly recruit children to take part in research, and get fantastic feedback from the parents and young
people involved.
Everyone on the Saros database is over 16, and there are lots of good reasons why we are never going to keep a
register or list of children's details... however a large number of our members are of course parents, and are
happy to put forward their children as potential research participants for relevant projects. The demographic
details members submit when they register with Saros enables us to identify respondents by lifestage and children's
ages, so we can quickly sort out whom to contact for suitable projects.
In every case we make the approach through the parent as their understanding and consent is paramount, but
because they already have the membership relationship with Saros we find a strong success record in recruiting
respondents of all ages - from teenage computer games testers down to baby formula drinkers!
We are also happy to advise informally on the logistics and issues regarding research with young people - such
as appropriate incentivisation, the role of chaperones, the necessity for police checks, and choosing an
appropriate venue and location. >
